The Turkish Get-up is an exercise that I've been wanting to work on for a while now. However, because its a slower lift, and CF workouts are all about "beating the stopwatch", TGU's don't come up in workout programming nearly as much as I'd like them to. However, one of the nice things about this exercise is that it isn't particularly explosive in nature. It's a series of connected and deliberate movements. This means that each and every time you do a Turkish Get-Up, your primary focus is on your movement and technique, with a secondary emphasis on speed and reps.

Another nice thing about the Turkish Get-Up is the virtually limitless amount of variation and creativity that the exercise can tolerate. Check out this article from DragonDoor.com about the different variations of the TGU (dumbbell, barbell, kettlebell, sandbag, and even human TGU's).

And while I'm at it, here's a nice little plug for DragonDoor. Check out the DragonDoor website (they have a nice little collection of articles on a wide variety of strength and fitness training, mostly geared around kettlebells). If you want more information in a different format, check out youtube. Here are a couple of my personal TGU favorites:
CrossFit firebreather Chris Spealler TGU with his wife
CrossFit Kettlebell pro Jeff Martone human TGU demo
135# Barbell TGU
160# Kettlebell TGU (watch the excellent technique on this one)
