Resolutions For 2010

New Years Eve is upon us, and with the new year comes the inevitable resolution list. According to an article published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, 40 to 45% of adults in America make one or more resolutions for the new year. Among the most popular resolutions: getting fit, losing weight, getting out of financial trouble/debt, quitting smoking, and spending more time with family and friends.

However, self-reported surveys show that only 75% of those resolutions survive the first week of the new year, and only 71% survive the second week. After one month, the number of people sticking to their promises of change drops to 64%, and after 6 months, less than half (46%) have actually stuck to their resolutions.

So, having realized that 2010 is knocking on the door, I figured I'd put down in writing (in no particular order) my goals, either fitness or otherwise, for the coming year...
  • Get 30 pull-ups in a row.
  • Go pseudo-Paleo: no dairy, no bread/grains (sorry guys, I'm not quite ready to give up my non-Paleo Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce yet...)
  • Deadlift 400#
  • Clean and jerk 225#
  • Snatch 185#
  • Get a muscle-up
  • Get WiscFit off the ground at UW as a legit student organization
  • Go to all of my classes during the semester
  • Staying up on reading assignments for all of my classes during the semester (something I'm notorious for not doing)
  • Follow my own programming and get a CF workout in at least 4 times each week (preferably 5x)
  • Read one book each week that isn't assigned through one of my classes
  • Get a job as a bartender in Madison (this one's more of a summer resolution, but a resolution nonetheless)
So there you have it. My list of New Years Resolutions. Out in the open for all the world to hold me accountable to. What are your resolutions for 2010?
