Slow But Steady

Over the last three weeks, WiscFit has been steadily increasing its membership (just for the record, if you've ever done a workout with us, you're considered a member). Every evening, we've had at least one or two people show up; in the last month alone, we've had 10 different people running through workouts. That's not bad, considering WiscFit is neither an official student organization nor a CrossFit affiliate, and the fact that, aside from this blog and the facebook group, there has been no advertising for any of the workouts.

For yesterday's workout, we had a total of five people going through the WOD, three of whom had never done an official CF workout before (props to Trey, Ted, and Weston). This might not seem like a lot, but to me, it says that some extreme growth is right around the corner. I wouldn't be surprised if we had 10-15 people showing up every night by the end of this semester. By next year, coming close to CrossFit UNC's numbers (50-80 people per night) isn't out of the question.
The Wednesday night WiscFit Crew (from left to right): Donny, Trey, Ted, and Weston. Surprisingly, a very nice photo after a very not-so-nice workout. This was Ted, Trey, and Weston's first true encounter with CrossFit. Look for them to be showing up more on here in the very near future...

So what's the point of todays post? Consider it a giant shout out to all of those people who have run through a workout with us, and to all of those people out there who actually read this thing. Thank you for all of your kind words and support!

This is Donny. Donny is a WiscFit badass. Donny is also the newest trainer to join our "staff" (if you can call two guys trying to start a student org a staff). He's going to be helping out with some of the organizational efforts we'll be undertaking this semester (getting all of the paperwork in to the proper places, running/programming workouts, etc.). If you have any questions about anything, he's more than happy to help out. His contact info is listed on the Contact Us page.

Just a reminder to everyone... The 19th Annual Literacy Network Run/Walk is still happening. We're still looking for some people to volunteer their Sunday (10/3) morning to run a 5K. I'm gonna give it maybe two more days of passive nagging before I start getting pushy. And for any of you who have ever had the pleasure of hearing me start talking about anything even remotely fitness-related, you know that I can get quite overzealous (to put it mildly).

Don't make me be that guy...

So, let me know if you're interested in signing up for this great cause on Sunday, October 3rd. Signup is $20 per person. The sooner you commit to it, the better! Let's see how big of a turnout for the Literacy Network we can get!
